Now that you know my whole wedding dress story…and you saw how cool the groom and groomsmen looked…it's time to talk about HAIR!!
Hairstyles can either make or break a look; it doesn't matter if a bride is wearing the most gorgeous dress, if the hair doesn't complement it…there's a recipe for disaster. As you know, I had ombré hair until October of last year. The first step to achieve my desired wedding hair was texting Marco, my favorite TREsemmé stylist, to make an appointment and go back to my natural hair.
TIP #1: go for a timeless color. You are going to be looking at these pictures for the rest of your life; and the best option is go back to your natural hair color. Also, make your hair appointment at least two weeks before the big day- that way if you are not completely happy with the color, you have time to go and fix it.

¡Ya les conté de mi vestido y de la vestimenta del novio! Ahora es turno de…MI CABELLO!
Para mi el cabello es imporantísimo; por muy bello que sea el vestido de una novia, si el cabello no lo complementa…¡desastre!! Como saben, el año pasado tenía el cabello con unas mechas californianas muy marcadas. Lo primero que hice fue escribirle a Marco Peña, mi estilista de TRESemmé favorito, para contarle que quería regresar a mi color natural para la boda.
TIP #1: vas a ver estas fotos TODA tu vida. Por mucho que te encanten los colores pasteles o quieras contarte el cabello de una forma toda edgy, yo te recomendaría que esperes y lo hagas después de la boda.. y que al contario, lleves el cabello de tu color natural. Ve a la peluquería al menos 2 semanas antes de la boda; de manera que si no es el tono que esperabas, tengas tiempo de arreglarlo.
Marco took me back to my natural brown hair (no crazy ombré that would make me look like I have brown hair and a blonde bun). He also added some natural highlights to give my hair a little bit of dimension. On our hair trial I also showed him pictures of what I liked, how my dressed was, the type of veil I was gonna wear, etc.
TIP #2: you must trust 100% the person that's doing your hair and makeup. Always go for a hair trial and do not leave that place until you are fully happy with your hairstyle. Take pictures of the final result to make sure that's exactly the hair you are getting on your wedding day. I've known Marco for years now, I admire his work so much and I was so excited he was able to be part of this important day.

Marco me pintó el cabello de mi color natural con unos reflejitos muy naturales para darle un poco de dimensión al cabello. Ese mismo día lo vi y le mostré muchas fotos de lo que me gustaba, de como era el vestido, de que tipo de velo iba a llevar, etc etc.
TIP #2: debes confiar 100% en la persona que te va a peinar/maquillar ese día. Es 100% recomendable que hagas una prueba de peinado el mes antes de la boda. Toma fotos de como quedó el peinado, así estarás 100% feliz con tu look el día de la boda. Yo conozco a Marco desde hace muchos años, hemos trabajado mucho juntos y me encanta su trabajo!
Estas fueron las fotos que le mostré a Marco; quería un moño bajo un poco "despeinado" o natural, que no se viera cargado.
FIRST HAIRSTYLE/ PRIMER PEINADO:
The day of the wedding, Marco arrived at my hotel room very early…we had so much fun getting ready. My mom was also there and my bridesmaids too! At the same time we were shooting the video, and taking photos (more on that later).
Now, let's talk about the step-by-step:
- Knowing how terrible the shampoos are at hotels, I brought the shampoo+conditioner from the Smooth and Silky TRESemmé line with me to Dominican Republic. Using the right shampoo is extremely important.
- Marco applied TRESemmé Thermal Creation Mousse on damp hair. This mousse works with heat to give your hair an incredible amount of volume.
- Using a hairdryer, Marco blow-dried my hair using a round brush- he blow-dried it with upward moments to get as much volume as possible.

El día de la boda Marco llego tempranito a mi habitación y nos divertimos mucho peinándonos y maquillandonos. Todas mis damas de honor y mi mamá estaban ahí y nos reímos como nunca.
- Primero me lavé el cabello. Sabiendo como son los shampús y acondicionadores de hotel; decidí llevarme mis propios productos. Utilicé el shampú y acondicionador de la línea Smooth and Silky de TRESemmé
- Sobre el cabello húmedo, Marco aplicó el mousse de TRESemmé de la colección Thermal Creations. Este mousse trabaja con el calor y te ayuda a darle muchísimo volúmen a tu cabello.
- Marco, utilizando un secador, secó el cabello con un cepillo redondo- dirigiendo el cabello hacia arriba para conseguir el mayor volúmen posible sobre la raíz.
- Marco divided my hair into small sections and he used a curling iron to create the perfect curls.
- Instead of letting them fall, Marco recommends applying a spray like "Curl Activator" from the Thermal Creations line by TRESemmé. Then you can pin the curls and let them cool down (I had the curls pinned for at least an hour; in the meantime Marco did my makeup and we even drank champagne..so much fun!)

-Marco luego dividió el cabello en secciones pequeñas para así rizar con una barra o rizadora el cabello en secciones.
- Luego Marco recomienda rocíar el spray "Curl Activator" de la línea Thermal Creations by TRESemmé en el rizo recién hecho- para luego enrollarlo y asegurar cada mechón con clips para que el cabello mantenga su onda. Repite en toda la cabeza (hasta que parezcas Doña Florinda) y deja las ondas enfriar por al menos una hora (mientrás tanto puedes maquillarte…o disfrutar con tus amigas como hice yo)
- When removing the clip, you have to options. You can either run your fingers through your hair and keep the curls. Or you can brush your hair a little to make the wave bigger and more natural (we went for option #2 because I was going for a natural not made up look).
- Finally, using bobby pins: Marco put my hair in a low and soft low bun..
- The final touches: a little bit of TRESemmé 24-hour finishing spray, my long veil, and a pretty brooch which was a gift from a friend called Roxana Lynch.

- Al remover los clips tienes dos opciones. Puedes pasar los dedos por el cabello y conservar las ondas; utilizar un cepillo plano para que la onda se vea más grande y natural.
- Finalmente, usando horquillas, Marco ató mi capello en un recogido suave, suelto, y muy bohemio. Los toques finales: un poco de TRESemmé 24-hour finishing spray, el velo y un lindo bronche regalo de mi amiga Roxana Lynch!.
SECOND HAIRSTYLE:
- After the ceremony, Marco an I rushed to the bathroom right by the cocktail space and we switched hairstyles in less than 10 minutes.
- Marco released the soft bun and using a round brush, he brush my hair to soften up the wave even more.
- Then he just put the hair in a half-up-do; and added the same brooch in the middle of the half-pony.
- Finally he just spray a little of TRESemmé 24 Hour Finishing Spray.
SEGUNDO PEINADO:
- Después de la ceremonia, Marco me cambió de peinado en 10 minutos en el baño al lado del salón de fiestas - pasamos de un recogido romántico a un semi-recogido divertido.
- Marco soltó el cabello y con la ayuda del cepillo plano, lo peinó un poco para soltar la onda aún más.
- Luego recogimos el cabello en una media cola (recogiendo la parte superior del cabello y atándolo a la altura de la coronilla con horquillas).
- En este caso: adornó la media color con el mismo broche y finalizó el peinado con un poco más de la laca "24 Hour Finishing Spray" de TRESemmé.
